First of course, prepare you travel documents,Like passports. Hongkong doesn't need any tourist visa. So, your passport is the most important document you need to prepare. Make sure that your passport still have at least six months before expiration.
Second, book your airline tickets. There are lots of airlines offering airfare promos. Book ahead to save more. you don't have to join a group tour to visit Hongkong, because I'm sure you will enjoy the visit more without the hassles from a group.
Third, make your hotel reservations. you have lots of choices for the hotels, from five star to a simple guest house. It all depends on your budget. I will feature on my future blogs the hotels and guesthouses in Hongkong.
So, everything is ready for your tour, And let's assume you are already at Hongkong International Airport. There are two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.Terminal 2 is farther, you need to ride the shuttle train towards the immigration counter, while terminal 1 is just a walking distance towards immigration counters.
After you passed the immigration and claimed your luggage, you need a ride towards the City. There lots of choices also for the ride, you can go with the Airport Express Trains, which only takes 30mins ride towards the city and will cost 80HKD. Buses are more cheaper, and of course there also taxis, and again these all depends on your budget.
I have one important advice for your convenience, buy an octupos card, because buses don't give change. At the amount of 150HKD you can have octopus card. Its very useful specially in bus fares train fares, or you can even use it to buy things. For your 150HKD, 50HKD is for the octopus card which is refundable when you returned the card before you go home. Yes, you can return it at the airport train counter and any amount left will be refunded.You can also add value, at 7 elevens or MTR Stations, if the 100HKD is consumed.Swipe the card for paying fares or things,and it will be deducted to your octopus balance. Very convenient, Isn't it?
And lastly, just be aware of all the signs along the road, for these will help you find the right way to go..
Hongkong,is a country so easy to enter, specially when you have kids with you. Aside from the famous Disneyland and Ocean Park, there are lots of beautiful places you can explore. There are lots of shopping places to go which you can't do it freely with a group tour.
