Wong Tai Sin Temple: Must-See Attraction in Hong Kong

Why is it people of different races and religions want to visit Wong Tai Sin?

Work and live in Hongkong for more than 4 years, but never been to Wong Tai Sin Temple... Someone is planning to go there because it is a famous Temple in Hongkong... hehehe Am just intigued so I went there yesterday just to know what's interesting in there...

I went through MTR, from Tsim Sha Tsui Station to Wong Tai Sin Station, just cost HK$ 7.3. From Tsim Sha Tsui Station, you need to transfer to Kwun Tong line at Yau Ma Tei, Mongkok or Prince Edward Station. At Wong Tai Sin Station, go to Exit B2, and Wong Tai Sin Temple, is just a stairs away... Please use this link for MTR Fares and Map... MTR fares and Map .

This is the scenario outside Exit B2 @ Wong Tai Sin Station, It's just like outside our Churches in the Philippine. That Old Lady was selling Incense sticks to people who are going up the Temple. Worshipers need to offer a stroke of Incense with Three sticks to express their sincere devotion to their Gods.

The LEGEND...

According to the Legend, Master Wong Tai Sin, or Wong Cho Ping as his original name, was a humble shepherd who was taught by an Immortal, when he was 15, to make a herbal potion which could cure all illnesses and help you stay Healthy... 40 years later Wong Cho Ping became Immortal and they started to call him Master Wong Tai Sin. Due to his Immortal Power, it is said that he was capable of healing the wounded and the sick and even grant whatever your requests..

WHY IS WONG TAI SIN TEMPLE SO POPULAR..?

The Wong Tai Sin Temple, claim to Make Every Wish Come True upon Request, might have something to do with it's Popularity. People believed that if you make your Wish here, the Chance that your Wish will come True is very high.

Fortune Telling is another main reason why the Temple is Well Known.. They said that the Accuracy of the Fortune telling in this Temple is very High and Accurate. When you visit this Temple, you will notice people lighting up Worship Sticks or Incense Sticks, kneeling in front of the Main Altar, Praying and Making Wish or doing the KAU CIM Ritual...

The Interesting Ritual

Kau Cim or Kau Chim, is a fortune telling ritual which originated from China, and is the famous and interesting ritual in Wong Tai Sin Temple. The main attraction to the Faithful and Tourists. People from all walks of life visit Wong Tai Sin, to seek answers to their questions in life by doing the ritual.

How to do the Ritual?

The ritual begins with the cup storing a number of the sticks. After the worshiper has finished their devotions to the main God, the worshiper kneels and thinks silently or whispers it to the deity God, their question while holding the cup between their palms. This part needs to be done decisively as one should not shift questions or hesitate on the question in the middle of the rite. The shaking of the cylinder, which is usually tipped slightly downward, results in at least one stick leaving the cylinder and being dropped onto the floor. In most cases, if multiple sticks leave the cylinder, those fortunes would not count and must be shaken again. Each stick, with its designated number, represents one answer.

When a single stick falls out from the container, the number will correspond to the 100 written oracles with an answer on it. The writing on the piece of paper, will provide an answer to the question.

The corresponding Answer will be interpreted outside the Temple... There are stalls outside offering to Interpret the Answers in English or Chinese language worth 40 HK$. They also offer Palm and Face Reading, for 300HK$ per person...

It's really interesting to try, but for me, I want to do the Ritual with someone... At least you have Someone to talk with, whatever is the answer to your questions...

And I will Write every detail of that experience in my future blog posts...
